The first dental school established in our country for dental diseases, “Dişçi Mekteb-i Aliyesi” started to serve within the Faculty of Medicine on 22 November 1908. In reference to this situation, every year since 1996, 22 November is celebrated as “Dentists Day” and the week including this day is celebrated as “Oral and Dental Health Week”
The key to a healthy and comfortable life is oral and dental health. Therefore, many factors that impair oral and dental health also jeopardise general body health. Oral and dental diseases, which are among the serious health problems in our country and in the world, affect thousands of people every day. Despite all these, this situation is not given enough importance and oral and dental health is neglected.
For this reason, we say that health starts from the mouth. We remind once again that oral and dental health has a great place in the basis of a healthy society and the importance of periodic dental check-ups. As Biruni University, we offer oral and dental health services in our dental hospital with the latest technological diagnostic and treatment devices as well as our experienced staff.
Community Oral and Dental Health Week and 22 November Dentists’ Day were celebrated with great enthusiasm in our faculty.
